Flaws in the college admissions process?

Colleges get to decide for themselves who they admit. Many of them are private schools. They've had many years to experiment with admissions, and have figured out what works best for them. And apparently it works better for them to have students who are involved instead of students who are not. If you disagree, start your own college and admit anyone you want.
