How to paint a painting on cheesecloth?

it is my first time painting and yet my professor suggested that I use cheesecloth as my canvas because it is cheaper (if ever I make a mistake, I could easily and conveniently renew as much as I want) but I DO NOT know what kind of paint should I use? Do I still have to wash the cheesecloth first before applying the paint? Gosh!!! I really need someone to tell me instructions on how to do this!!! pls....Whoever that helps me, I'd really be grateful to that person...>< BTW emphasis on the first time ever drawing anything in my entire life so I really do not know the basic usage of the different paints and what are the different effects of different paints so I am really in grave need of suggestions and tutorials pls...... ><
